At the Event, Professor Ehi Eric Esoimeme was conferred with the Sir Ahmadu Bello Distinguished Merit Award by the National Association of Northern Nigerian Students, the umbrella body of all Northern Nigerian Students both home and abroad. The Award recognises Professor Esoimeme's contributions to the Academia and to the Community. Since 2010, Professor Esoimeme has authored over 80 publications and Edited more than 60 Books. His work spans anti-money laundering, counter-terrorist financing, and corruption prevention. Professor Esoimeme has also been involved in highly impactful community initiatives. In 2021, he founded the Concerned Residents of Surulere Advocacy Group and the Concerned Residents of Isale Eko Advocacy Groups. Both Groups have focused on raising awareness about Consumer Rights across the Community, in addition to offering Pro Bono Services to Residents and Citizens across Africa. 

At the event, Professor Esoimeme was also honoured with the African Times Magazine Distinguished Award 2026 as a strong advocate of a cyber crime free society within our communities and cities nationwide particularly across the African continents for decades and still going stronger.

The event also witnessed a meeting between Professor Esoimeme and the Leadership of National Association of Northern Nigerian Students where the issues of drug abuse, money muling, insecurity and fraud within Schools were discussed. Professor Esoimeme urged the leadership of NANNS to further expound its existing awareness programmes by organising more Seminars and Webinars on the legal implications of such crimes and the effect that these crimes could have on the future of Students. Professor Esoimeme also emphasized on the need for career mentorship and certification courses to effectively position Students in the job market and to build the requisite skills for the advancement of entrepreneurship and leadership. According to Professor Esoimeme, the change starts within Schools and Universities. When we have Students who place moral values over illicit funds, what it means is that we are building a new breed of future leaders with high ethical values enough to make the necessary impact in society. 

Professor Esoimeme was also conferred with the Medal of Honour as an Ambassador of Northern Nigerian Students. The event ended with discussions between Professor Esoimeme, the Leadership of NANNS and the distinguished Leaders of the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) led by Prince Sunny Yemi Adenowo, National Vice Chairman of PCRC South West and Alhaji Shuib Ademola, Chairman of the PCRC Area C Command, Lagos State. Also in attendance was Nurudeen Lawal, DGS, PCRC, Area C Command, Abiodun Adedavoh, Chairman PCRC Yaba Division, Mr. Femi, PRO, PCRC Surulere Division and Other Distinguished Executive Members of PCRC, the Academia and Community Leaders. Prince Sunny Yemi Adenowo emphasized on the need for NANNS and the PCRC to work together to support the Police in curbing crime. Stakeholder engagements and cooperative partnerships between Universities, the PCRC and the Police will help reduce crime drastically. 

Earlier this year, Professor Esoimeme was featured in the Nigerian Bar Association - 100 Lawyers, 100 Different Journeys historic publication, a flagship publication of the Legal Education Committee of the NBA Young Lawyers Forum (NBA-YLF).  His academic and professional journey as is well documented with a bid to inspire young lawyers and showcase the variety of opportunities available in the AML/CFT Compliance field. The publication is a collection of career stories from distinguished lawyers across diverse sectors and professional paths. Through candid reflections, the contributors share the pivotal decisions, unexpected turns and defining moments that shaped their careers. The publication also showcases the breadth of opportunities available to lawyers, demonstrating that a legal education can open doors far beyond the conventional career paths.
