AUU International Signs Memorandum of Understanding with Global Humanistic University
On June 5, 2024, Global Humanistic University and African Union University, International - AUU International signed a Memorandum of Understanding for academic collaboration. This Memorandum of Understanding was designed to foster academic collaboration through cooperation in teaching and research.
Global Humanistic University and AUU International will engage in collaborative faculty development programmes aimed at enhancing teaching methodologies, research skills, and academic leadership to enrich their expertise and contribute to the advancement of higher education, including Visiting Professorship programmes or Visiting Fellowship programmes; subject to mutual agreements.
Global Humanistic University and AUU International will organize joint conferences, workshops, and seminars that bring together scholars, researchers, and industry experts from both institutions for knowledge dissemination, networking, and collaboration.
Appointment of Dr. Robert Amiller Okech as an Adjunct Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies
We are pleased to share the amazing news that Dr. Robert Amiller Okech, PhD has been appointed as an Adjunct Professor of Peace and Conflict Studies at the Department of Peace Studies and Conflict Resolution, Faculty of Social Science, African Union University (AUU International).
Dr. Robert Amiller Okech PhD, is a multifaceted individual who integrates virtues, theory and practice in his lectures. He, is a lecturer, and researcher in International and National Security for Sustainable Peace, Geo-politics, Governance, Development, Peace and Conflict, Foreign Policy, Conflict Management & Transformation, Terrorism & Counter-Terrorism, Investigator in Violent Extremism, Radicalization and Psycho-Social Support Services. His previous roles continue to strengthen his abilities in collaboration and innovation, including a focused attention to detail and accuracy. Currently, he is an Adjunct faculty lecturer at National Intelligence Research University.
He holds a PhD in Peace and Conflict Studies from Masinde Muliro University of Science & Technology (MMUST), Kenya, Masters of Arts in Armed Conflict and Peace Studies and Bachelors of Arts in Public Administration, Political Science and History both from the University of Nairobi (UoN). Diploma in Armed Conflict in Eastern Africa Studies and, Diploma in Strategic and Security Studies both from-SSS (UON).
He worked for National Intelligence Service (NIS) from 1985 to November 2021 cumulatively (37) years. He was a field Operative, Desk officer, Supervisor, Section head /Analyst. Lecturer/trainer from 2013-2021. He has a passion for training and has trained/lectures young/entrants and in-service for NIS officers at different levels. Currently, he is a part time lecturer at Tom Mboya University, lecturing both Post Graduate and Undergraduate classes on various units. He has been able to train various government officers on governance and leaderships and different actors in managing conflicts. Trained Mediator from Strathmore Dispute Resolution Center, Nairobi. He is a results-oriented, high-energy, and hands-on in his activities.
He has been involved with States and Non-State Actors in initiating and following up mediation processes, intra and inter conflict resolution among adversarial groups, organizing conflict resolution trainings, monitor change and translate into appropriate planning and action in line with good understanding of conflict transformation. He has continued researching and teaching in these critical areas. He has been in the academia for more than 10 years during this time he engaged in conferences presentations of which some of them became policy papers, done consultancies and training for diverse actors in both Public and Private.
